Basic Requirements to be a Mississippi State Trooper
- Must be 23 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years of age and 60 college credit hours; or high school diploma or GED and 4 years of active duty military/6 years of service in the National Guard; or high school diploma and 1 year as a certified sworn law enforcement officer
- Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Mississippi
- Must have a valid driver’s license
