Shannon Coghlan Jones has served as Executive Counsel/Deputy Administrator to the Commissioner of Public Safety since April 2017. In her role as Executive Counsel, she also manages the attorneys and staff in the agency’s Legal Division.
Before joining the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, Ms. Jones served as General Counsel for the Mississippi Department of Corrections and as an Assistant District Attorney with the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office. She also worked as a Special Assistant District Attorney with the Rankin/Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
