The Administrative Operations Division provides administrative and technical support to the other divisions of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. These support services are composed of the following areas of responsibility which provide support to the agency:

- Fixed Asset Management
- Internal Security
- Grants Administration
- Management Information Systems
- Human Resources
- Physical Maintenance
The Comptroller's Office is responsible for accurately accumulating and recording all financial receipts and disbursements for the division of Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, the division of Support Services, the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers' Training Academy, the Mississippi Crime Laboratory, and the Mississippi State Medical Examiner's Office. Financial review, property accountability, supervision and advice are provided by the Comptroller's Office. The main divisions within the Comptroller’s Office are the Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Procurement.
FIXED ASSET MANAGEMENT
The Fixed Asset Management Division is the custodian of the Department of Public Safety fixed asset records and is responsible for proper control, maintenance, use, and dissemination of those records. In addition, responsibility rests at this division for coordinating and conducting periodic physical inventories of the fixed assets and reporting the results of those physical inventories.
The Supply Division is a support branch of the agency. It is responsible for a complete record of all purchases and the issuance of all uniforms and other supplies which are maintained on a complex computer system that provides the agency with accountability of all issuances.
The Internal Security Division has the responsibilities of telecommunications, cellular technology, identification credentials and the physical security of all Department of Public Safety buildings and staff. This division also houses the Forms and Printing Branch which processes all incoming and outgoing mail at the agency and is responsible for the agency’s printing needs.
The Grants Administration Office is responsible for the accounting and purchasing functions of all federal grants distributed through the Department of Public Safety's Division of Public Safety Planning, as well as the accounting and purchasing functions for the Board of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training and the Board of Emergency Telecommunications.
MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The Management Information Systems Office is responsible for planning, operations, security, maintenance and oversight of the information technology infrastructure of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. This infrastructure includes server farms, desktop environment, internal LAN management, external WAN management and law enforcement data communications to local, state, federal and international agencies.
Personnel transactions involving over 1,000 positions of the Department of Public Safety are conducted by the central Human Resources Office located at DPS Headquarters. Functions of the Human Resources Office include advertising job openings and promotional opportunities within the organization at the Mississippi State Personnel Board and the Mississippi Employment Security Commission.
The employees of the Physical Maintenance Branch are responsible for maintaining the grounds, which includes servicing and maintaining the electrical, plumbing and air-conditioning equipment. In addition, personnel perform all major repairs to the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol district substations and driver's license examining stations across the state.
